How did you get started as a business consultant? What inspired you?
For a long time, I trained my sights on the possibilities afforded by brand marketing; it almost felt natural to me. During my teen years, I helped my family’s clothing business attract buyers and turn profitable. From there on, I knew I was on to something. I get my inspiration from many people who have sought my marketing advice and found success in their various ventures.
How do you make money?
My work is specifically targeted at helping businesses enhance their cash flow and increase their customer base using sound marketing advice. I make money by charging fees for these services.
How long did it take for you to become profitable?
I saw the need to establish the consultancy after several clients approached me for guidance. I am grateful the venture picked almost immediately when I got started.
How did you get your first customer?
I got my first valuable business experience from working in my parents clothing shop. Although the business wasn’t performing well at the beginning, I realized there was great market potential for success. I deployed a number of aggressive strategies, including focusing on the target marketing and crafting a comprehensive marketing plan, which brought in several customers.
What is one marketing strategy besides referrals are you using that works really well to generate new business?
I have devised several strategies that have worked well for us. Besides the referrals, I have invested a lot on internet marketing. I contracted a local web development company to develop a website for the business and to help us come up with a more visible branding campaign. We placed a lot of emphasis strategic content, display advertising and video marketing, social media marketing and email marketing. Through concerted efforts, the website was up and running and the usual tepid orders increased exponentially.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
I see a very bright future in what I am doing because of the insurmountable opportunities that lies ahead. I always feel proud when I see a hitherto struggling business turnaround into a profitable venture that is able to cover its bottom line and expand its market presence.
What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?
The business consultancy sector is awash with numerous growth opportunities, thanks to the new businesses setting shop and the leverage brought about by technological advances. Over the years, I have managed to serve an army of highly contented customers, from small and mid-size enterprises to individual clients and I will continue to do so.
