Do you know what steez is? If so, how do you express your steez?

I actually laughed aloud the first time I saw this word. I wasn’t too sure what the word steez meant until I searched it.

After learning what the definition is I would definitely have to say I have a specific steez. My swagger stems from my love for what I’m doing. Everyday I wake up and am excited for today’s patients. So, yea I do have a certain steez.

When you were younger what was your dream occupation?

When I was young I loved wrestling and physical activity. I even joined the Air Force and went to Korea to further my education on judo. I loved it. I knew I wanted to do something with nutrition and helping people. Hey, now I get to do both on a daily basis at my clinic.

Who/What inspired you to get into your current field?

I drew a ton of inspiration from Loren Cordain, a definite expert in the paleo lifestyle. I saw a lecture of his nearly 20 years ago and it changed my outlook. Since that lecture I have shaped parts of my practice to reflect his influence.

What is one current trend that excites you?

One trend that really excited me is everyone’s interest and passion for the paleo diet. This lifestyle is something I have been instructing on for years now, and I’m happy people are starting to realize the benefits of this lifestyle.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment would have to be graduating medical school. It is no minor feat to say the least. Trust me when I say it’s no cakewalk. Looking back now, I couldn’t imagine my life or career as anything different.

What do you think of social media? Has it made an impact on your professional career?

I didn’t really utilize it when I first started working as it was still in its infancy. But, nowadays, social media is fantastic. I have sponsored pages for my clinic plus my own personal pages. It’s an easy and convenient way to communicate with my audience plus share information.

If you were ever to start again, would you do anything differently?

This is a tricky question; I mean hindsight definitely is 20/20. If I were to nitpick, I’d say the one thing I would do differently is to be introduced to the paleo diet at a younger age. Knowing this information would have had such an impact on my early career. That’s me nitpicking; I’m a firm believer in things happen for a reason.

What do you see for the future?

I’m hoping to continue to introduce more people to the benefits of the paleo diet. People deserve to know this information, as it may be perfect for their lifestyle and what they want to achieve.

What’s one piece of advice you can tell our readers?

Follow your dreams and aspirations regardless of what other people say. If you are passionate about something, then commit to it. This interview is all about identifying your steez, well, showcase that swagger!
